Board of Elders
The Connections Christian Church Board of Elders is made up of the Lead Pastor and members of the Connections family who meet the qualifications outlined in the Roles, Responsibilities, and Qualifications for Elders (please also see our Position Statement on Women in Church Leadership). Members of the Board are nominated by the church family, undergo a thorough examination and interview process, and are appointed in August of each year. After appointment, the church family has a one-month period to review and respond to the appointments, after which the family votes to affirm them as Elders.
The current Board of Elders can be reached by emailing elders@connections.cc or any of their individual emails listed below.
Bylaws
The Board of Elders will govern the affairs of the church under the authority of Jesus Christ and the direction specified in the Bylaws of our church. These Bylaws describe the leadership structure, decision-making processes, and communication to the church family. You can view the current Bylaws here.
As of August 2026 the Board of Elders is suggesting some changes to the Bylaws. You can view the proposed Bylaws here.
The most significant change is the redefining of the Fiscal and Ministry years. Previously, the year was defined as September to August. The new language allows the Elders to change the year as necessary. The new language is:
ARTICLE XI MINISTRY AND FISCAL YEAR
The corporation's ministry and fiscal years shall each be a 12-month period as described. These years may run concurrently, in whole or in part.
sECTION 1 mINISTRY yEAR
Unless otherwise determined by the Board of Elders, the ministry year of the Church shall be a 12-month period established by a majority vote of the Elders at a regularly convened business meeting, and may be changed from time to time for planning, leadership, and congregational purposes.
sECTION 2 FISCAL yEAR
The fiscal year of the Church shall be the twelve-month fiscal year approved from time to time by the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors may change the fiscal year by resolution when the Board determines that such change is in the best interests of the Church. During the Fiscal Year, the Board of Directors shall provide periodic financial updates to the congregation.
SECTION 3 IMPLEMENTATION
Upon approval of a fiscal year by the Board of Directors, the officers of the Church are authorized to make such accounting, budget, reporting, tax, and administrative adjustments as may be necessary or appropriate to implement the approved fiscal year.
Nominations
Each May, the Elders open the window for the church family to nominate potential new Elders. We do not encourage ‘anonymous’ nominations, so if there is someone you think would make a good Elder, please get in touch with them directly before nominating them. Also, please review the Elder Qualifications to make sure they are eligible. Once you’ve had a conversation, you can use this form to submit the nomination.
